My big journey
In the summer holidays I cycled from Lands End to John O Groats. Not on my bike but on the back of my Dad’s tandem. A tandem is a bike with two seats but both of the people have to pedal!
Lands End is at the bottom of England and John O Groats is at the top of Scotland.
I visited lots of places on the way. Here are some of the photos….
We cycled about two thousand kilometres. A lot of them were up hills and it took us seven weeks.
My favourite thing to do was Landmark where we went on three giant water slides. I liked body surfing and staying in hotels best because there are TVs and comfy beds which my brother and me jumped on all the time. My favourite county was Cumbria because it had my home in it and my bed!
My worst things were: wild camping because Daddy gets in a nag in the morning because he doesn’t want us to be seen; and I don’t like camping especially the first night because of a fox that scratched around my ear outside the tent and then stole Hannah’s dirty nappy. POOH!
And here are some of the times when it just got too much… the first time was when Hannah was sick in the tent and we had to get nappies to nap it up! Mummy said to Daddy to open the nappy but he didn’t because it would just spill through the holes. And the second time was when Hannah thought the tent was a backpack and said backpack EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
We ate fish and chips all the time and Dad bought us sweeties to make us pedal faster.
When he gave us 2p a kilometre, I wanted to cycle further. By the end I had earned £20.
The weather was sometimes rainy. BOO!
It was a bit hard at times but we still had great fun!
Next I want to go cycling in Italy because my favourite foods are pizza, pasta, pannini and ice cream. I still like cycling even though it was tiring and one day I’d like to ride my own bike a long way.
